Osprey in flight

Osprey in flight, originally uploaded by Tony McLean.

Many thanks to Brian Spence whose bird I.D. skills certainly put me to shame. I believed this bird to be a Hobby, but as Brian has assured me, the four wing tip feathers and the ‘Lone Ranger’ black band across its eyes assuredly I.D. it as an Osprey. Spotted on Sunday evening circling over North Marsh hide at Tophill Low.

Just wish it had flown a little closer!
