Wildlife photography in East Yorkshire

Stoat with mouse

Stoat with mouse, originally uploaded by Tony McLean.

I saw this stoat a couple of time during the week at Tophill Low. The first time I was unprepared and didn’t have a sufficiently high shutter speed to freeze its motion. It was eventually chased away by a combination of Moorhens and Coots.

Yesterday morning was very quiet. I made less than a dozen exposures all morning. However, I managed to get a clear photograph of this Stoat in exactly the same location but this time my shutter speed was much higher and as an added bonus—it had a mouse in its jaws and looked directly at the camera.
