Tony McLean's East Yorkshire Wildlife Diary

Wildlife photography in East Yorkshire

Everyone needs a Hobby…

Hobby, originally uploaded by Tony McLean.

An enjoyable evening spent at Tophill Low. Thanks to the expert knowledge of fellow enthusiast Andy Marshall, we were both delighted to see a Hobby catching and eating Dragonflies. The Hobby even perched for some twenty minutes or so on top of a tree between meals.

Without Andy’s assistance, I may have missed this stunning bird and just concentrated on my quest for more Barn Owl photographs. Alan even swopped places in the hide so I could get some clearer photographs of the perched bird.

A fantastic evening. I certainly appreciate the help from Andy and would like to thank both him and the kind assistance of all the voluntary wardens from Hull Valley Wildlife Group over the past year.
