Tony McLean's East Yorkshire Wildlife Diary

Wildlife photography in East Yorkshire

Common Moorhen on reed

Common Moorhen on reed_2, originally uploaded by Tony McLean.

Following my success this morning with the Kingfisher, I returned to Tophill Low this evening. A Grey Heron flew in and wandered through the reeds. I then saw a Moorhen fly up onto the reed-heads to feed on the seeds. I had never witnessed this behaviour before and this is a good example of the delights of nature photography and why I keep returning to this fabulous location.
