Tony McLean's East Yorkshire Wildlife Diary

Wildlife photography in East Yorkshire

Linnet-it’s a boy

Linnet-male, originally uploaded by Tony McLean.

More like April than June today. Got up at 4.00 am and eventually arrived at Tophill Low at 6.00 am. A strong northerly wind and heavy showers diverted me from my mission to photograph one of the local barn owls. So, I sat in a hide for three hours watching a pair of Linnets gathering reed material for their nest. The buffeting wind made it difficult for both me and the birds. Hoped to see a Roe deer or a red fox, but they were particularly shy today—wise creatures!
